08 Jul Wiston Steam Rally 2017
Member 652 Richard English from the South East, attended the Wiston Steam Rally in West Sussex on 7th and 8th July and reported it to be an excellent event. Richard was joined at the Rally by the owner of a nice 1934 Wolseley 9, who bought it around 40 years ago as his first car and still drives it as his only transport. Richard’s lovely 1933 Hornet is pictured next to it, with Brian owner and his wife Penny, and Richard.
While at the Rally, Richard spotted a model Wolseley of an indeterminate parentage on a closed stand.
Richard’s Hornet and his 1979 Rolls-Royce Shadow 2 are also pictured together. Richard said it was interesting, although it’s not clear in this picture, he had realised that he has two of the only cars that have wires running between the radiator and the grille. The Wolseley’s is to illuminate the badge of course and the Rolls-Royce’s is to alarm the Spirit of Ecstasy.
There were steam engines – rollers, locomotives, lorries and various engines, besides other vintage and classic vehicles, buses, tractors, cars, bicycles and motorcycles, among a variety of other attractions and demonstrations, also at the Rally. A great weekend. We hope Wolseley Owners Club can attend this event next year. Please keep your eye out for the dates for this event on our website.
