Stonyhurst Classic Vehicle Show 2018

A new event for 2018, the Stonyhurst Classic Vehicle Show, North West England, was held on 12th August in front of the imposing Stonyhurst College. Grade two listed, the Jesuit College has been on this site near Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley since 1794. Arthur Conan Doyle was educated here, and their alumnus includes Presidents, Prime Ministers, three Saints, seven Archbishops and seven Victoria Cross winners. An overcast sky that always threatened rain, kept the number of entries lower than expected. What the event lacked in quantity was certainly made up for in quality particularly if your thing is modern classics. Ford Capris, Escorts, Triumph Stags were the order of the day and any number of early hot hatches. Current models were on show by the Jaguar Drivers Club adorned with two E Types upholding the classics. The Jensen Owners Club had an impressive display that included 541s, CV8 and Interceptors. Unfortunately, member Colin Wilcox’s 4/44 was the only Wolseley in attendance but at least he said he had the honour of, unofficial, best Wolseley in Show! It will be good if this could become an annual event with more Wolseleys attending. (See Events for 2019).
