Practical Classics Restoration Show

Practical Classics Restoration Show, NEC 2014

Club members enjoyed a brilliant weekend at the NEC in Birmingham at the Practical Classics Restoration Show on 12-13th April 2014.

The show went really well, with many classic car clubs attending and new and existing members visited the club stand showing great interest in the club. On the club stand, we had a Wolseley 4/44, two Wolseley Hornets, one Wolseley Hornet (1930’s) and a Wolseley Hornet Special.

Thanks to our members for bringing these superb Wolseleys along to the show and to the team for all their help during the weekend. We attended several very interesting lectures on car restoration at the show. There were some excellent trade stands and an autojumble; also some great barn finds and auctions

The icing on the cake, was when one of our members won the Practical Classics Restoration Show Club Challenge, live on stage, competing against many other clubs to remove and replace a valve from an A-Series cylinder head in the shortest possible time. Charlie Weight, Wolseley Owners Club member, who had travelled from Southampton with his Wolseley Hornet to attend the show, not only took 1st place in the Challenge, but also won £250 first prize for the club in this Challenge.

Pictures were taken with Danny Hopkins, Editor and John Simpson, Chief Mechanic, from Practical Classics magazine. We also met Ed China, motoring specialist and Mike Brewer, television presenter from ‘Wheeler Dealers’ on TV, Fuzz Townshend from ‘Car SOS’ on TV, Vicki Butler Henderson, racing driver and motoring television presenter, Quentin Wilson, motoring television presenter and Chris Barry, actor (Red Dwarf), comedian and impressionist amongst other celebrities. A truly unforgettable weekend.
