Passion for Power – Tatton Park -2017

Cheshire Auto Promotions at Tatton Park in Cheshire, presented their ‘Passion for Power’ show over the weekend of 19th and 20th August. It was excellent. This is one of the UK’s biggest and most popular classic car events, featuring over 90 First Class Classic and Performance Car Club displays, with over 300 private entries in addition, along with a massive 250 plot autojumble, general and trade area.

The weather at the event which was not kind on the Saturday, did not prevent classic car owners from attending in their cars. It was much better on Sunday. Wolseley Owners Club had 30 cars on the stand over the weekend. Steve Darnell was awarded ‘Best Wolseley in Show’ for his stunning Wolseley 21/60 County on Saturday and Steve Turner was awarded ‘Car of the Show, High Commended 3rd Place’ for his superb Wolseley 16/60 on Sunday. Congratulations to Steve and Steve! Thank you to all club members who attended. It was great to see you all again. It was also lovely to see the club’s youngest members on the stand for the first time – twins William and Thomas – 14 weeks old, along with their big brother James, aged 4. Some asked Mark (Dad), if he was going to have any more little ones and before he could answer, James piped up and said ‘I don’t think so’! Mark has been very busy indeed and has also just finished converting his Wolseley 18/85 engine to 2 litre and fitted fuel injection to it. He has written a superb article with pictures for a future issue of Wisely, the club magazine. There was some great Wolseleys on the stand over the weekend, plus a Capri, an Austin 16 and an Austin A90, which were admired by all enthusiasts visiting. On this occasion, however there was another mechanical marvel on the club stand, which captivated those visiting the gazebo for a brew – the twins transport. A sophisticated, if not somewhat complicated, double deck fully adjustable high tech pram. One expects when presenting your new twins to the classic car world for the first time, to receive many ooohs and arhhhs and warm comments towards the new borns, however many ooohs and arhhs were also received at the sight of this mechanical marvel! A thoroughly enjoyable weekend for all attending.
